This course will help you develop the skills needed to search and apply for work. You will learn how to search for employment online and register with online recruitment agencies. You’ll also learn to create an effective CV, produce cover letters and complete online application forms. Suitable for those with little or no experience of using a computer.
Digital Skills for Work
We offer a range of courses designed to develop your IT skills for the workplace. If you already possess the basics of using a computer, we’ll help you develop the IT skills needed to work in an office environment. Our courses cover a variety of Key skills that an Administrator is likely to use on a daily basis, such as the Microsoft Office suite, which cover: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and online skills. These new skills will significantly enhance your employability prospects.
Our Digital Citizens programme will help you develop essential digital literacy skills. You’ll learn the essential skills to begin computing with confidence. We’ll show you how to use a range of online services and digital media devices such as email, social media, using smartphones and tablets. Suitable for those with little or no experience of using a computer.
MS Word for level 1
This one day course will take you through the main features of Microsoft Word. You’ll learn essential word processing skills including basic letter and document production layout, formatting, saving and basic file management. No prior experience of MS Word is required. You should already have some experience of Windows and file management.
MS Word for level 2
These lessons build upon the Word level 1 classes and introduces some of the more advanced features of the program. We’ll explore working with tables, document properties, merging, working with Graphics and columns. You should have some prior experience of using MS Word.
MS Excel for level 1
This one day course takes you through all the main features of Microsoft Excel. You will gain a general overview of the concepts, terms and functions of working with spreadsheets. We’ll cover the essentials of spreadsheets: entering numbers, text, formulae, formatting. No prior experience of Excel is required. You should already be computer literate with some word processing experience.
MS Excel for level 2
These classes build upon our Excel level 1 lessons and introduces some of the more advanced features of the program. Topics include advanced formatting, conditional formatting, advanced formulas, filtering lists, sorting data, Pivot tables. You should have some prior experience of using Excel.
These lessons will help you master the essentials of PowerPoint to create your own slideshows. Topics will include creating slideshow presentations, audience handouts, transitions, animation. No prior experience of PowerPoint is required. You should already be computer literate with some word processing experience
MS Outlook essentials
Learn the key features of Microsoft’s personal information manager. You’ll learn how to work with appointments, use Outlook Today, manage tasks, use E-mail, contact lists, plan meetings, apply filters. No prior experience of Outlook is required. You should already be computer literate with some word processing experience
Windows 10 essentials
These lessons will familiarise you with the main operating features of Microsoft Windows 10. You will be introduced to the main features of the Windows 10 operating system and essential file management skills.
